Dynamic extension therapy aimed at treating back pain

SWiNGMED is a novel dynamic extension device promising to be able to efficiently treat a large variety of spinal problems with a conservative therapy while being well tolerated by the patients. With the SWiNGMED device, the patient can be treated in a very comfortable and easy way. It is based on the operating principle of dynamic extension therapy while, at the same time, being even better adjusted to the needs and preconditions of each patient.

Innovation and enhancement of the therapeutic spectrum

Within the range of physical therapies aimed at treating back pain, one of the most successful forms of therapy that has become well established besides exercise therapy is dynamic extension therapy. The benefits of this form of therapy have been further increased as the operating principle of dynamic extension therapy has been further refined.

The longstanding principle of extension therapy of the spine

Based on the longstanding principle of extension therapy of the spine, which goes back thousands of years, TKH-Medical developed the SWiNGMED, a novel extension device, in cooperation with university professor Dr. Erich Mur of Innsbruck Medical University.

Comfort and convenience for the patient

The team developing SWiNGMED placed particular focus on providing utmost comfort and convenience to the patient: An ergonomically designed bed, which can be adjusted to a height of 20 to 50 cm, enables comfortable positioning.

In order to reach the shoulder stand position without (often painfully) flexing the cervical spine, the headrest of the therapeutic bed is lowered while the legrest is lifted upwards. In this way, comfortable adjustment to the patient is achieved.

The patient can be lifted comfortably into the starting (lying) positions by sliding down on the legrest and the lifting device being lowered at the same time. The therapist not only has uninterrupted eye contact with the patient but can also intervene at any time without being obstructed by any barriers.

Gentle separation of the surfaces of the small vertebral joints

Treatment with the SWiNGMED device achieves gentle stretching of the muscles and ligaments, a gentle separation of the surfaces of the small vertebral joints and reduced pressure (negative pressure) around the intervertebral discs.

As a result, back pain can be eased quickly and permanently in many cases.
